Week 13

This is my last poster. I took a picture of my friend that I decided to use.

I used a background taken in SecondLife.

I imported the portrait in Adobe Photoshop and I masked it, selecting only the parts I needed.


After that I uploaded the background, too.

I put the portrait onto the background and resized it until I was happy with the outcome.

Then I added the name of the animation, the catch phrase and information about the airing. The font is OldEnglish text because I think it works best for the animation.

And that's it. Hopefully "Magick" will come up soon.

Week 12

I wanted to do something different this week. Something I was planning for a long time but I haven't done yet. My reason to come to London was to study Computer Animation, become famous in the field of Animation, and be able to suggest my ideas for an animation project. One of these ideas is an animation called "Magick". I will post the beginning of the story at the end of this post so you can read it.

Anyways, the character in this poster was a friend, who inspired me and I created a character in my animation to be like her.

For the background I used a photo taken in SecondLife.

I put the background in Adobe Photoshop and added the my friends picture. I masked over the space of her picture I did not need, leaving only her head(and a bit of her shoulder).

After finishing masking, I cropped it and I put it onto the backkground.

For the font I used OldEnglish Text. The phrase is going to the catch phrase of the first season of the animation. Since it comes from the Bible it is well known and it is easy to remember. I changed her eye-colour because the eyes are supposed to represent what's in your soul. Her eyes are white(which means innocence and purity) but they have metal shining(which is a manifestation of her special abilities but it also shows her invulnerability. I decided to use only half of her face because it seems to me somehow mysterious.

Every story has a beginning. I suppose my beginning is the moment of my birth. But may be everything started before me. May be my destiny was created before I was born. In that case, I’ll take you to a place when I still don’t exist – thousands of years before me.

It all has started in the dawn of time when people believed in Gods without realizing that the only true Gods walk amongst them. There were few people born with special power inside them. They were supposed to be free from the physical laws of the reality but when people found out about them they tried to stop them. These special people were calledmagicks. And so was called their practice. They were born different from their family and friends, free in their soul like a bird. There is a prophecy saying that there will be battle that will bring the end and there are going to be four magicks who are going to announce the battle, magicks who will save humanity. Since this prophecy was open for many interpretations people were afraid of the magicks and started killing them leaving just a few to survive. Although some of them lived a happy life, others were hunted down like animals, imprisoned and exhibited like animals. It was easy for the magicks in the ancient times – they appeared as Gods in humans’ eyes but when Christianity came as a religion they were killed as heretics. The inquisition took the life of many but the ones who survived are still alive today for a magick can’t die of aging. Only four left as immortals but even they don’t live amongst us anymore. But they continued their work to stop the greatest battle which will determine the fate of the world...

Week 11

This week I created a poster for a book about a love story. I used a photo of two friends of mine...

and photo of an eye of a 3D character.

I combined them in Adobe Photoshop.

I used this font because I think it's tender and more feminine which is exactly what I was looking for because a book with such a love story aims to be read mostly by women.

Week 10 (13th Apr 11) Diagnostic Assessment

Assignment – Mixed reality

For this module you must produce two posters promoting a work of mixed reality. The first will be set in reality but contain and image of your avatar, the second will be set in a virtual world but contain a real photo of you.

Both posters will be placed on blogs containing supporting text and images showing how and why you developed your work as you did and an evaluation of its effectiveness.

Both posters will be based on imaginary Book, Film, Album, TV Programme, or Campaign.

For the second poster:

1. Plan your work on paper

2. Dress yourself and take a real photo(s) of yourself against a coloured background

3. Mask your body in Photoshop

4. Build your set in SL and photograph it in SL

5. Combine your body and your SL set in Photoshop

6. Import into Illustrator and apply text

7. Save as an optimised JPG

8. Create a blog using Blogspot or Wordpress

9. Place your Poster on your blog and add text and images showing the development and evaluating your work.

Week 9 ( 6th Apr 11) Fonts, meaning and style

This week I played with a couple of fonts and from the great range that Illustrator gives me I chose these... I might stick with the Old English Text font.
